It was Andy Warhol who originally invented THE interview magazine. Via Moscow and Berlin, one of those is now coming from Munster. Not quite a lightweight – and as such, a counter-draft to the general digitalization trend. iPad? No way! In this miracle magazine, it all works out just fine: the crass confrontation of the interviewed personalities, while communicating texts and design at the same time without one stealing the other’s show. In times of be-close-to-the-reader-mantras, the first two editions feature endless interview series and cerebral monologues on the first steps of being a designer, or about intercultural designer legends. The corresponding layout matches up: sensory overload in one moment, lack of any visual grip whatsoever in the next. Browsing the issues’ first pages, you will find a little of both – the either-or as well as the and-even-more; probably the exact paradox mix that might fuel the equally paradox construct of an independent university magazine, dreaming of the mainstream market. In graphics and content, the »Rhizom« supplement »Der Beileger« offers a direct link to people close to the MSD. Each of them is a designer in their own right.
