▻ Better Urban Planning for the Planet
Leah is a Business Development Manager at Urban Logiq (www.urbanlogiq.com - our host venue) and former research advisor for GLOBE Advisors in Vancouver. Leah is a former Advisor to the federal Minister of Small Business and Tourism and Government House Leader. Leah was also a technical analyst in financial modeling for Deloitte, completed an exchange at the University of Zurich in banking and finance and worked at the Vancouver Economic Commission performing economic research.

▻ Assessing the environmental impact of building materials
Anthony is the Principal of Priopta which provides parametric Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) for buildings. Those assessments enable architects, engineers, and developers to design buildings that use materials with significantly lower embodied environmental impact. A wide range of material design options are being analyzed and visualized to help the customers quickly compare material options and make informed decisions. He loves to visualize interesting environmental data and will be showcasing a few data visualization projects relating to buildings, energy policy, climate solutions, and food impacts.
► YULIANA PROENZA
▻ Exploring historical Geothermal Data: GIS and 3D Visualization of Mount Meager
Yuliana is a Geologist working in the mineral exploration field since 2006 at various deposits across Canada at different stages of exploration and development. For her Master’s thesis she was compiling and evaluating historical exploration data available for the Upper Lillooet geothermal area, associated with the Mount Meager volcanic complex, located 150 kilometres north of Vancouver. She provided a data foundation and 3D visuals for that data, which includes geochemical results for springs and well fluids, consolidation of general geology and structural mapping, and drilling data including collar locations, survey deviation data, downhole lithology and temperature measurements.
► ELENA POPOVICI
▻ Entrepreneurship in the age of data science
Elena is a Computer Science PhD with over a dozen years of industry experience managing science-driven projects using algorithms to solve complex, real-world business and engineering problems across a wide variety of domains. Elena is currently a Project Lead at Neurio, where she uses machine learning to forecast electricity consumption and generation from solar panels, and optimization to intelligently operate a battery based on these forecasts in order to reduce the grid demand during peak periods. Elena also volunteers with the BC Sustainable Energy Association and co-organizes the Data Science for Social Good meetup.
