Workshop - ESP8266 - Learn to Build Something Awesome!

May 1, 2018 · Charlotte, United States of America

You will not want to miss this chance to learn how to build something awesome with the ESP8266!

Smash an Arduino and Wifi into a chip and you get the ESP8266, a unique device we'll explore! We'll look not only at the device, but some of the most popular libraries including WifiManager, FastLED, MQTT, NTP and HTTP. We'll have 50 ESP8266 chips to give away for the first 50 arrivals!!!

Most people like to work in teams so come regardless if you have a laptop or not. If you have a laptop then please have it ready by following these instructions to install the Arduino studio and esp8266 add on.

The instructions are here to install the following libaries, FastLED, Arduino MQTT and NTPClient:

Wifi will take forever to download these if you don't do it before the event. If you have troubles, post a comment below and we'll give you a hand.

Also, because of the number of wifi devices, some people should be prepared to use their phones as a hot spot to make an internet connection with their ESP8266.
