Android for Beginners = Free 4 Session Workshop

Feb 24, 2016 · Boston, United States of America

Women Who Code is partnering with Google Developers' Group & Girl Develop It in a Android for Beginners 4 session workshop! This course is free and food will be provided for every session.

If you have already RSVP'd to GDG or GDI, you do not have to RSVP to this event.

Learn Android software development with the Udacity Android Development for Beginners online course and a local study group. Why a study group? Less than 12% of the people who start an online course by themselves finish it. We’ve seen over half of the people who signed up for an online course and commit to meeting in a study group complete the course.

What to expect

We’ll all meet for the first time at the Signup Evening on Wednesday, February 24 at 6:30PM at Hatch Fenway (401 Park Drive in Boston). We’ll review the course, what’s expected of you and how these study groups have been run in the past. We'll also help you start setting up your environment. Fully informed and with your questions answered, you can sign up then on Eventbrite.

Each week for 4 consecutive Wednesdays, March 2, 9, 16 and 23, at 6:30PM, we’ll meet at Hatch Fenway (401 Park Drive in Boston) to review the lesson you prepared. Experienced study group leaders will have completed each lesson and prepared a review of the lesson. Each session will last one and a half to two hours. We’ll serve some food so you don’t have to stop on your way from work.

Study group leaders will step through each lesson and will facilitate a discussion amongst the attendees.

Before each meeting you’ll complete the lesson of the week. On average, this will take about three hours per week to prepare.

Attendees who complete all lessons and attend all classes will receive a certificate of completion.

Who should attend?

Everyone who is would like to learn mobile Android programming. You don’t need software development experience.
