In 2019, The WIMDI Speaker Series is inviting engaging speakers each month to give talks on topics that help women kill it at work.
Welcome to Talk 7 of 12 - Powerful Presentations: How to Engage & Connect with Your Audience
Solid public speaking skills are an important part of your career tool kit. Creating engaging presentations can help enhance your reputation at work and increase your influence and the uptake of your ideas. Outside of work, speaking can enhance your professional reputation and make you more attractive to potential employers.
This talk will focus on how to deliver a fantastic, engaging presentation at work or once you've booked your first speaking gig! We’ll cover:
- How to manage your public speaking nerves & anxiety
- Using the power of your voice to intrigue and captivate your audience
- The importance of using body language to communicate credibility and confidence
- Tips to encourage attendees to reach out post-event
The goal of this talk is to refine your public speaking skills by building your confidence, enhancing how you’re perceived, and increasing audience engagement.
This talk will be given by Janice Tomich, Executive Speaker Coach.
Janice Tomich works with executives and entrepreneurs to build confident, powerful voices that inspire their audiences to take action. She is an executive advisor, community influencer, educator, and contributing writer to publications like Huffington Post Canada and Inc. Janice is the champion behind many keynotes, TEDx, and TED speakers. She is also the co-founder of TEDxKids@BC, the first TEDx event to provide a platform for kids to share their ideas.
When not working with clients, Janice can be found volunteering at Dress for Success Vancouver, riding her skinny-tired road bike around Vancouver's seawalls, or standing at her easel painting.
Doors open at 5:30 for mingling and socializing. The official start time is 6pm, with additional networking time to follow.
Hosted by Gavanize (formerly ACL).
This event is open to individuals of any gender identity.
WIMDI events are for parents too! We know childcare can occasionally be a challenge, but we don't think that should stop you from connecting and learning with us. WIMDI doesn't offer childcare at our events, but we'd love you to bring your little one along with some quiet activities to occupy them. Suitable for ages 0+
