Are you interested in Blockchains and Smart Contracts and the general Web3 decentralisation movement (IPFS/Swarm/etc)? Have you ever wanted to start writing programs that work on these incredible platforms?
Well then you’ve found your way to the perfect entry point. This event is a super informal and (hopefully) super regular hack night, inviting any age and skill level to come down and learn more about building things. There’s no real agenda and no real goals other than the ones you set yourself, just a bunch of likeminded souls who want to create funky things.
I’m Tom Nash, I’m a software engineer by trade and I’ve been working with Smart Contracts and Ethereum since November 2016. I’ve worked on a bunch of Ethereum projects, which have all taught me a lot in one way or another and I've love to pass that knowledge on.
YBF have kindly offered us their mess hall, so we’ll have some space to sit and code/read/chat. A few sponsors have kindly agreed to put on pizza and beers, so come hungry and thirsty!
We're limited by space to 30 registrations per hack, but we might be able to find a bigger venue at some point in the future if there is consistent interest. At some point we might even branch off and have a dedicated course for learning Solidity.
If you want to find a community of people whose purpose is to build instead of speculate, then it’s right here.
I can personally teach you things like:
- How to set up your environment for Smart Contract development
- Best practises for developing, like automated tests (they’re super fun trust me) and automatic migrations
- High level overviews of what’s possible on Ethereum and the challenges you might face in a project
- Software engineering processes like how to rapidly prototype and ship products
- How to spot a good meme
And I am sure there will be plenty to learn from each other!
Let’s build Web3 :-)
