Dear VDSG-followers and DSCafe Enthusiasts!
We are officially announcing the second edition of our Data Science Café! And since we want to keep things fresh and interesting, we have an interesting add-on for you: the Apache Spark Tech Pill - more details below.
Let's recap quickly what happened since the last DSCafe: We have had the chance to get to know several of our participants from DSCafe I and several projects have been evolving nicely. Now it's time to gather again and continue applying Data Science in a relaxed atmosphere and a collaborative environment.
If you haven't participated before: You are more than welcome to join! Regardless of your experience in Data Science, the only thing that you need is the willingness to apply it. We have a framework which guides this hands-on/heads-on experience, and you can have a look at it here: http://bit.ly/2glOQI7 .
Just remember our design principles:
• It is all up to you.
• Stay cool, stay honest.
What we provide: We are going to provide a nice location, refreshments and snacks, WIFI, resources and coaching to support the 3 modes and a shared R-infrastructure which you are free to use!
What you bring: A laptop, headsets, writing utensils, collaborative mindset, willingness to apply Data Science, your ideas and knowledge.
14:30 - Informal gathering - meet the VDSG, talk to us, etc.
15:00 - Participants introduce themselves.
15:10 - Ongoing projects status
15:30 - Application of Data Science with your colleagues :). Eat cake, relax and apply that Science in the mode that you prefer.
At 17:30 you would have the chance to switch to the Tech Pills on SPARK or continue working on your project. It is up to you.
17:30 - Apache Spark Tech Pill - a guided hands-on Apache Spark session, led by Zoltan Toth (https://www.linkedin.com/in/zoltanctoth) and Mate Gulyas (https://linkedin.com/in/gulyasm) from DataPao (http://datapao.com/)
They have prepared beginner and intermediate examples in Spark that would be run in the Databricks notebooks, so you don't need to configure anything in advance. You can simply follow these examples and get advice if needed.
IMPORTANT: If you want to have more details prior to the event, feel free to write to us an email to [masked].
Data Science requires time, and we want to give you that time. Relax, enjoy, talk, eat cake and apply Data Science. See you on the 1st of December and the following volumes of the DSCafe!
