Data is the backbone of solid UX. Without meticulously going through our research and findings, we'd never fully understand what it is customers are looking for from a product or service and we'd probably make a lot of bad decisions. The entire design process needs to be backed by the data that your researchers have harvested in order to create something that has been carefully crafted for your users with their best interests being kept in mind. It's important to keep data analysis as a consistent moving part of your design process that is constantly evolving as you grow your business. You shouldn't just keep an eye on your own statistics either, tracking competitors and their data not only gives you a better understanding of the market but may offer insight on ways to improve your business.

Qualitative and quantitative data offer different insights to your users experience, so may need to be handled in completely different ways.
