Typeclasses put to work

Apr 7, 2015 · Kraków, Poland

Hello again!
This time we meet in the new TechSpace, hosted by Base. There will be snacks and drinks, and of course awesome talks. We'll stay on the functional programming and type systems side of things for this meeting:
The meeting is in polish, unless there's at-least-one person who doesn't speak polish, then we gladly switch over to english.

Piotr Moczurad:
I am a Haskell developer at Flowbox (http://flowbox.io), right now tinkering around the Flowbox's language compiler. During last summer's Google Summer of Code I was developing GPU extensions for Breeze (Scala numerical library) and enjoyed every bit of it. I also do a bit of Erlang and even some FPGAs if I am in the mood :)
will talk about Typeclasses put to work:
we will take a look at how one can use them to make the code cleaner, more functional, more extensible or simply cooler. Some of the topics mentioned will include functors, applicatives, monads and monoids, all stripped down from the scary, inaccessible, academic vibe. We will also check out Scalaz, the library that makes a Haskell developer feel at home writing Scala code.

ScalaDays discount! If you want to head over to Scala Days Amsterdam (awesome, highly recommended), use the scalaug code to get a better price :-) Thanks Typesafe!

About our meetings:
Kraków Scala meetings are in english if at-least-one attendee does not speak polish, otherwise they are usually in polish. We do record sessions, and put the recorded talks online on youtube (krakowscala account). If you'd like to host us, advertise your company or just meed great Scala devs - drop by.

We're looking for speakers!
We look for speakers. Please contact Konrad ([masked]) or Michał ([masked]), if you'd like to present something. Lightning Talks (5 - 15 minutes) are also most welcome! Talks can be in Polish or English.
