Selenified: An Open Source Testing Framework For the Real World

So you’ve decided to adopt Selenium as your automated testing tool, great! Now where to start?
Browser automation libraries like Selenium are great foundational tools for building functional test suites, but as many automation teams often realize, there’s often a significant investment in time and resources required to get the most out of them. This is because there’s quite a gap between Selenium and the functionality required to make it a comprehensive testing tool for your application. Features such as verification, reporting and simplified execution can go a long way towards helping organizations get the most value out of automated testing and building a framework is an excellent way to bridge this gap.

In this talk, we’ll discuss the importance of testing frameworks, as well as automated testing best practices and then give an introduction to Selenified. Selenified is a Java-based open source testing framework that builds on Selenium’s core functionality to provide a more robust tool which can be used to test all levels of your stack, including browser, services and back end. It also incorporates some excellent reporting and CI capabilities.

We’ll show a hands-on demo, as well as write a few tests in order to get a good look at its features.
