There's No "I" in Feedback- WIMDI Interactive Webinar Online

Dec 9, 2021 · Vancouver, Canada

In 2021, The WIMDI Speaker Series is inviting engaging speakers each month to give interactive talks on topics that help women kill it at work.

Welcome to Talk 13 of 13 - There's No "I" in Feedback

Most leaders give clumsy, self-oriented feedback that's more about them than the person sitting across from them.

From the boss who insisted we change our whole personality so we could eventually move into a job we didn't want anyways, to the longtime mentor who shared amazing (but not super practical) insights about what worked for them, we've all been on the receiving end of feedback that clearly wasn't about us. We’re left rolling our eyes, feeling alienated, and surreptitiously turning on LinkedIn’s “open to work” feature.

Nobody wants this. We want bosses that truly help us get where we want to go -- not where they think we should be! Unfortunately, once we become the boss we often (unknowingly) repeat the pattern. Yikes! Let's make sure you're not doing this to your team.

This talk will focus on making your feedback more effective, less painful, and 100% customized to your employees. We’ll cover:

- Why giving feedback is so stressful for many leaders
- How leaders end up giving self-serving feedback (despite their best intentions)
- How to give feedback that serves your team's needs (not just yours)
- The four feedback problems you solve when you ask "who is this for"

The goal of this talk is to help you turn your feedback into a gift that people ACTUALLY want.
