The idea of the Semantic Web started way back in 2001. And after more than 15 years, it hasn't reached the limelight. It has no big success stories to tell, or at least most people are unaware of them. Meanwhile, the Social Web (Web 2.0) has become widespread. Cloud computing, Big Data, Virtualization, Machine Learning, IoT and Blockchain are surging ahead with constant innovation and industry adoption. So, is the Semantic Web dead?
Far from it. Unlike its parent Web of the 1990s, the Semantic Web is far more complex. It's been progressing slowly and steadily. In fact, Big Data and IoT are complementing its growth. In this talk, we will get familiar with the history of the Semantic Web, what has been achieved so far and the road ahead. Along the way, we will learn its terminology, methodology, and tools; and how it relates to AI/ML/IoT.
This talk will interest anyone who is curious about the Web's future. Technical details in this talk will benefit software architects and developers.
