Happy Spring, everyone! TWDG is happy to announce that our May event will be hosted by Klick Health. Join us for talks focusing on the application of data science to health data.

At this event, you'll hear how to deal with missing data in time series data when predicting blood glucose levels in patients with Type I diabetes; how to identify influential healthcare professionals in the pharmaceutical industry using social media activity, publications, as well as network and credibility measures; and how natural language processing (NLP) can be used to extract meaningful information from clinical notes. Come join us to learn more from these accomplished women in data science!

Predicting Blood Glucose Levels of Type 1 Diabetes Patients: Experiments in Data Imputation
- Clare Jeon is a data scientist at Klick Health, where she focuses on identifying digital biomarkers for diagnosis, risk assessment of diseases and prevention of health problems. She was previously involved in working on the systems biology of cancer and the development of computational pipeline to identify key genomic and clinical signatures for cancer treatment. She holds a Ph.D degree in bioinformatics and systems biology.

Identifying Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in the pharmaceutical industry
- Sarah Sarabadani is a data scientist who joined Klick Health in 2017. In her master’s studies in biomedical engineering at U of T she worked on classification of time series using ML algorithms to identify patterns in physiological signals of children with autism while watching pictures in order to stimulate various affective states. Since joining Klick Health, she has worked on several client and research projects including projects to optimize spend on marketing tactics, identifying the most influential physicians (KOLs), and social media mining to detect Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) mentions in tweets.

Extracting Medical Information from Clinical Notes
- Lediona Nishani, PhD, is an accomplished data scientist at Klick Health with a bold vision of how AI and machine learning algorithms can positively impact a growing number of industries, particularly in health care. With research experience spanning both the academic and industrial spheres, at Klick, Dr Nishani’s work is focused primarily on Information Extraction in clinical domain; leveraging NLP techniques to extract useful information from clinical text.
