The Impact of Speed Optimization on SEO: A Nigerian Case Study

It's no longer news that Google now considers core web vitals as one of the signals for ranking content on Search Engine Result Pages. Several websites across the globe have recorded a change in their traffic after the last Google's major update.

Unfortunately, WordPress site owners in Nigeria are not positioned to get a fair share of the traffic from Google. Aside from that, nobody likes a slow site. Every single day the attention span of people online drops. Google expects every site to load in not more than 3 seconds.

In this training:
1. I will share some valuable ideas on how we can create faster sites that are optimized for users experience.
2. I will talk about how to choose themes. The fact that there are thousands of themes makes it tempting to want to try many but there are just a handful of WordPress themes that are optimized for Speed. I personally use just one theme for all the sites I design.
3. I will talk about some layouts that are more speed-friendly and the ones that are not. Most designers like using sliders, but there is a better way to frame their content apart from sliders.
4. I will also share what plugins are speed killers and the alternatives that can be used.
