The ELK Stack: For Real-Time Enlightenment

Sep 4, 2014 · Dublin, Ireland

In this session, you’ll learn how the combined forces of the Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana (the ELK Stack) can enable you to mine information from disparate data streams, be logs or something else. All in real-time. We’ll examine these concepts through the lens of real-world implementations of the ELK stack by users like GitHub, Mozilla, and Wikipedia. You’ll leave this session with a better understanding of how the ELK can make harvesting, searching, and visualizing your data simple and have a rough idea of what it takes to set up it all up (spoiler alert: less than you think).

Boaz Leskes is an Elasticsearch core developer, Lead developer of Elasticsearch Marvel and the author of Sense, the popular front end for Elasticsearch. Boaz's background is diverse, ranging from C++ to C#,Python and Java and sometimes even Javascript. Rumor has it that he has also done Lisp at some point in the past. Based in Amsterdam, he's a fan of faceting, Lucene, monitoring and search.
