The Decoding of Apple WatchKit

Feb 19, 2015 · Chicago, United States of America

The smart watch saga continued at this years CES 2015 with several new smart watch designs looking to get a piece of the $60 billion dollar watch industry. However, everyone is very much waiting for the release of the Apple Watch and whether the reality will live up to the hype.
Considering Apple sold a mere 70 million iPhone 6s during the quarter alone, it is probably safe to say that they know a little something about technology and we can expect that Apple will make an impact in the wearable space just as it did with phones and tablets.
Last November Apple debuted the Apple WatchKit with their release of 8.2 beta 1 allowing developers to begin exploring how to "extend their applications and enhance their functionality" to the Apple Watch. Since then four betas have been released, and we are getting a chance to see what to expect.
So then what are some of the features you can build on a Apple Watch? How do you extend your application portfolio to the Apple Watch? What are some of the apps we can expect? Will it be just another wearable to add to the long list of wearables? What does deployment look like? How do the capabilities compare to other smart watches? Get these questions answered and more.
Come join iOS enthusiast and extraordinaire Justin Baumgartner as he decodes the Apple WatchKit, shows us just how to get your iOS applications ready for the release of the long awaited Apple Watch, and takes a look into the future of what to expect from Apple.
