The 21st Century – An Age of Informal Learning and Learning Networks

Jan 9, 2013 · Greater London, United Kingdom

This is a House Meeting where we look at how we can develop informal networks of learning in the fast changing landscape of the 21st century and what role organisations like GlobalNet21 can have in this.
Since its inception GlobalNet21 has generated a great deal of informal learning and now it is actively looking at how it can create study circles out of some of the House Meetings that take place. These study circles can meet in people’s homes, communities or take place online through webinars, skype and google plus.
The session will be led by Pamela McLean - described by one of her friends as an online learning and collaboration explorer. She also introduces people and helps them to do useful things - learning a lot in the process and sharing what she has learned. She usually collaborates under the name Dadamac -
Pam is going to see how we can develop this. How do we make the most of the opportunities for learning that we can find through GloblaNet21 and its community? How are people in GlobalNet21 already using these opportunities to learn - and others opportunities besides? What tips can we pick up from each other?
GlobalNet21 meetings provide great opportunities for learning - not just learning from the speakers but through informal conversations afterwards. And GlobalNet21 isn't limited to face-to-face meetups. There are chances to learn through the Internet using Globalnet21 webinars, and through its social networking opportunities. In face-to-face sessions and online we can learn from a great variety of speakers and from each other as well.
This is a session for anyone who is interested in learning - either because you have something particular that you want to learn, or because you are interested in ways of learning outside of traditional classrooms.
Although membership of our site is free we do expect all those who attend our events to pay an annual subscription that covers attendance not just one meeting but also to the vast majority of our meetups and webinars for any one year. It also allows you to bring one guest free to every meeting or webinar.
The subscription is £10 a year for those who commit to a recurrent annual payment for the next three years. During that time the price will not go up. For those who want to pay for one year only then it will be £12 for this year.
Both of the above applies to those who pay in advance by paypal, eventbrite or by cheque. For those who pay at the door or after the event then the subscription will be £15
