The October edition of the TechLunch will have us try to answer the question of "Build or Buy?".
We will have three talks of 15mn each (with a 5mn break for questions in between), followed by a more casual networking time.
Sometimes it's difficult to decide if it's worth to develop your own internal tools or, on the other side, rely on an existing product; sometimes you'll throw away your internal tools for a SaaS product, sometimes you'll quit the external service to rebuild your own version.
Gianluca Bargelli will discuss about how Algolia manages to have the best of both worlds.
Louis Chatriot will present Stripe's strong culture of "build" and explain how it influences their own thinking and challenges them to create products that would not make sense for their clients to build internally.
Nicolas Girault will tell the story behind scrumble.io. Even being strong advocates of OSS and *aaS solution, sometimes you have to build your own when nothing else could fulfil your company's need.
Note that this event is scheduled during lunch. We will have food for all the registered persons, but try not to be late.
Our elevator is still broken. Entrance will be done through the 5 rue Pernelle, and our offices are on the 4th floor.
We try to have as many talks as possible in English, but have to sometimes fallback to French. All talks are recorded and will be published on YouTube afterwards.
