You are building your products and services for users who have different experiences, abilities and needs than you. Ideally you have a diverse mix of people to make objective design decisions early on. However, all decisions your team makes are naturally biased even with the best intentions. Unless you are aware of your biases, they will affect your design process in ways that might be harmful without you even knowing.
This meetup is an introduction to the concept of unconscious bias in design processes – the mental shortcuts our brains take to help us make decisions quickly or with incomplete information.
In this interactive and hands-on workshop we will explore what unconscious biases are, their influence in the design process (and outcomes), and how to spot and work around biases.
