We hope you can join us at our usual venue in the city for our Winter meetup on Wednesday August 28th.
Our sponsor this time is Tata Communications, and we thank them for their ongoing support.
We've outgrown what has been our usual room, so look for us in our new location to your RIGHT when you exit the lift lobby.
This meetup's a little more tech-focussed than usual, kicking off with an intro to PowerShell from Robert Crane.
In his session you'll join the world of the power IT professional and learn how to use PowerShell to automate your IT life. You don’t need to be a coder just keen to take advantage of what scripting can do in today’s environment. Learn how to get started with PowerShell, the basics and some helpful scripts you can use.
Following that, just-awarded MVP James Arber is flying up from Melbourne to demonstrate how simple it is to create a bot for Microsoft Teams - without having to write a single line of code. (It won't hurt: promise).
James will use the free Azure BotMarker service to create a conversation-based Microsoft Teams bot, using Microsoft Cognitive Services to retrieve data from your existing content to assist your users and automate simple Question/Answer tasks. (Did we mention he's not a developer?)
The team from Alloy Computer Products will be bringing representatives from Yealink for a look at their portfolio of SfB and native Teams devices, with a focus on their configuration and management.
Here's the agenda:
3:05 - Intro and welcome - Greig Sheridan
3:10 - What's new in the world of Microsoft - Victor Kochetkov
3:20 - An intro to PowerShell - Robert Crane
3:40 - Building a Teams Bot - without code - James Arber
4:00 - Managing your Yealink SFB and Native Teams Devices - Alloy/Yealink
4:20 - What's new in Microsoft Teams - Craig Chiffers
4:40 - Vendor news - Greig Sheridan
5:00 - wrap-up, then adjourn to L1 for networking and refreshments, courtesy of Tata Communications.
Don't forget if you're travelling or have colleagues interstate, check out all of the AU & NZ user groups here:
We hope to see you on August 28th.
- Craig & Greig
