It’s been a while since we’ve been able to socialise in person so what better way to start the year of CocoaHeads than with an outdoor social event in late Feb. Hopefully the weather comes to the party.
The current plan is to get together at 12:30pm, Saturday 26th Feb 2022 at Centennial Parklands in Sydney. We’ll meet somewhere around the Ash Paddock picnic site hopefully close to the BBQs. I’d strongly suggest joining the Slack group as I’ll post on the day exactly where we end up. https://join.slack.com/t/sydneycocoaheads/shared_invite/zt-13zfs2hdg-t2i6T9jnOL_qfO2IH6j5Iw
We’ll all share the food responsibilities. Everyone on the RSVP list will be asked to bring something. Please RSVP if you plan on attending and once we have an indication of how many people will attend, we’ll send out a Google Doc with a list of food items we’ll need, and everyone can put their name next to the item they will bring. We’ll keep it simple, but need some level of organisation is needed to make this happen. It’ll be simple picnic/BBQ food - think snacks and sausage sandwiches. If there are any special requests for food please let Zach know asap. Bring your own thing to sit on (picnic mat, chairs etc.), and your own drinks.
We hope to see as many people there as feel comfortable. From a Covid-safety perspective, we will be outside but please bring a mask, as it may help everyone feel more comfortable, and remember to practice social distancing. Please only attend if you're comfortable. While we'll do everything we can to make it as safe as possible, it's up to everyone to assess their own preferred level of risk. If you’d rather not eat food that was brought by someone else that’s fine, please just let us know ahead of time. We also won’t expect you to bring something if that’s the case.
I’ll be a fun way to start the year. Hope to see you there! We’ll be back to an online meetup with talks in March if that’s more your style.
We are always looking for speakers for the upcoming months, so if you are keen to give a talk, let us know, we would love to hear it 🙂 If there is anything we can do to help you present your topic, just ask us when filling out the submit a talk ( http://www.sydneycocoaheads.com/submit-a-talk/ ) form.
This in-person event is a little different to normal, but please remember Sydney CocoaHeads' values being a safe meeting place for all developers. Attendees are expected to be familiar with our (and your) values and code of conduct: http://www.sydneycocoaheads.com/policies/.
And as always, thank you to our long-standing sponsor Bilue ( https://bilue.com.au/ ) - for helping out with all our ancillary costs!
