#1 Moving from Objective-C to Swift

Speaker: Atharva Vaidya

Abstract: Swift was released almost 4 years ago now and clearly it is the way forward in developing apps for the iOS platform. The question a lot of people are asking now is should they move their codebase from Obj-C to Swift? The answer to that question depends on a variety of factors. There are many people who will be championing Swift as the answer to everything. It certainly could be in the future, but in the present, it is not. It is the answer to a major portion of problems that plagued or currently plague iOS/Mac development, but not all of them. I will be proposing a multitude of scenarios in which a move from ObjC to Swift would be detrimental to the long-term prospects of a project and also scenarios where moving to Swift would be enormously beneficial.

Bio: Atharva is an iOS/Mac Developer for 6+ years now. Currently working at Medal.tv remotely from Mumbai.

#2 Clean Swift Architecture

Speaker: Vinita Miranda

Abstract: As an iOS developer most of them have used Apple's default MVC. Apple’s MVC is good but the view controller ends up being a massive view controller since all the logic is written in the view controller. There are various alternatives for MVC and one of them is clean swift. In this session we will discuss details of how to implement clean swift, writing unit test cases and what were the challenges and learnings while using clean swift architecture in Dream11.

Bio: Vinita has 7.5+ years of experience in iOS. Currently working as an iOS Developer at Dream11 since July 2017. Prior to this has worked with Upstox, Sportkix, Deloitte, Sportz Interactive and has worked as a freelancer as well as a trainer for Objective C and Swift. Apart from coding, she loves travelling and trying out different varieties of food. You can find Vinita at -

#3 Building Commercial Frameworks

Speaker: Yogesh Singh

Abstract: Modularising your codebase goes a long way in having a SOLID principles abiding architecture in your products. The Framework Consumers depend on Framework Engineers to write efficient, flexible, maintainable and (sadly) well-documented code.
We'll discuss the current challenges in building private frameworks like setting up your development environment, utilising third-party open-source & commercial frameworks, current distribution channels available, deploying to Framework Vendors & Store Applications.

Bio: Yogesh is currently the Senior iOS Engineer at Haptik. Graduating with CS degree from Mumbai University in '14, he joined Mumbai based startup Inspeero Technologies helping build Electrocompaniet Remote which was showcased at CES '14, '15, '16. You can find Yogesh at -
