Study Group: Reliable and Distributed Algorithms

Apr 22, 2018 · Vancouver, Canada

• What we'll do
The KTH MOOC on Reliable Distributed Algorithms parts 2 will be archived, so we will not be completing for a certificate, nor will we be able to submit our assignments, or partake in the discussions with those who followed in "real time."

As such, let's make our own study group to reflect on a weekly basis, and share our solutions, understanding, and questions as a community.

NOTE: We currently have this scheduled for Saturday afternoons, in a meeting room at the Vancouver Public Library. If anyone would like to sponsor a venue, food/drink let's discuss.

Course objectives
The main objective of this course is to provide the students with a solid foundation for understanding, analyzing and designing distributed algorithms for reliable distributed systems.

The course requires an intermediate level of knowledge in computer programming, basic knowledge in computer science and mathematical skills.

The course will use the programming language Scala in the programming assignments.

The course effort is 5 hours per week.

We will do a review of the past week as possible within time constraint.

Lecture 10: Sequence Consensus and Replicated State Machines

1st Programming Assignment (Ballot-based Leader Election)

And work on the programming assignment during the week, as a homework assignment.

• What to bring
