For those enrolled in Udacity's Self Driving Car nanodegree, let's get together to discuss project assignments and welcome the incoming cohort that's starting this month.
Also, for those interested in working on small-scale robocars, Paul Barner, an R&D Engineer in the medical devices industry, will provide a primer on CAD and 3D Printing. He has already designed and printed parts for some of our robocars, like Raspberry Pi camera attachments and portable battery clips. Paul also organizes the Dedham Makerspace Meetup group, as well as serves as a Technical Advisor / Teacher of the Bay State Learning Center.
All of our members are encouraged to join as we often transition into general discussion about autonomous vehicles.
10:00a-11:30a: Introductions, SDCND project assignments discussion
11:30a-12:30p: Primer on CAD and 3D Printing, Paul Barner. For members who would prefer to work on project assignments or have general discussion, we can split up into different groups.
12:30p-???: Lunch and amazing conversations
Primer on CAD and 3D Printing:
For those interested in this workshop, please bring your laptops and register for a free Onshape account ahead of time at https://www.onshape.com/.
Status on our small-scale (1/16th - 1/10th) self-racing robocars:
We currently have five robocars in various stages of operability. We will probably have 2-3 robocars that will be able to navigate a track autonomously in the next 2-4 weeks.
Cambridge / Somerville members:
Unfortunately, no generally available robo-taxi services, like Voyage.ai, are operating in this region...yet. If anyone from the Cambridge or Somerville area is willing to give a ride for this event to one of our members who is currently car-less, please let me know at [masked]. Thanks!
