When you're setting up and running your startup you'll be responsible for a million+ things.  What's more, you'll rarely find time to go back and think about the basics... let alone question them.  That's why we've brought together an evening of three essential presentations that will help you question and iterate your approach to funding, marketing and future-proofing your company's legals.  

By the end of the evening you'll have an actionable checklist of all the things you may have never thought about or just never found the time to delve into in detail.

About the speakers

Andrew Lockley
Andrew LockleyAndrew Lockley is a business angel & consultant, working mainly in the tech startup sector.  His principle focus is on the commercial development of internet firms.  This encompasses business strategy, investment readiness, marketing, sales and usability.  Previous clients and investments include firms in casual games, web apps, mobile apps, financial platforms and healthcare.  This cross-industry focus brings new ideas and inspiration to each project.
Andrew concentrates mainly on sweat equity investments in start-ups, and on consulting for funded firms.  

With a background in bootstrapping, he seeks to provide or attract the resources that are needed for development, all at little or no cost.  He works on the sales process, with detailed scrutiny of web and app usability and customer journeys.  The aim is always building sales revenues quickly, and at low cost.

Outside paid work, his personal history includes a stint on the board of a major charity, Masters in Engineering and Management, and scientific research on climate change.  He is commonly described as a ‘Marmite person’  with some valuing his plain-speaking style, and others simply wanting to punch him in the face.

Simon Halberstam
Simon HalberstamSimon is a partner in Kingsley Napley's Corporate and Commercial team, specialising in IT / IP Law. In recent years both IP and IT have been evolving faster than the legal frameworks that regulate them, which makes an exciting but demanding area of law, as the conventional legal concepts are adapted to cope with new media and new concepts of intellectual property

Simon is well known and highly respected in this complex field of law, and acts for IT providers, ISPs, Domain Name registrants and web designers. He also acts for users, providing legal advice to both the IBM Computer Users' Association and SOCITM.

Chris is VP Marketing at BaseKit.  He started his career in big brands, marketing for HSBC, Virgin Atlantic and Starbucks. He then moved over to digital five years ago, where he specialises in scaling startups that have received VC or parent-company funding. Chris is currently VP Marketing at BaseKit.
