SMACK Stack Meetup!!

Jun 6, 2017 · San Francisco, United States of America

Let's talk some SMACK! Join us for a fantastic evening with some of the experts of the SMACK stack technologies.

For this meetup, we'll be doing things a little differently and running it like a live reddit AMA (ask me anything). We'll have a panelist of experts from the technologies in the SMACK stack to answer any and all questions you may have, so please come prepared with some good questions!

Neil Conway: Neil Conway is an engineer at Mesosphere, and an Apache Mesos Committer and PMC Member. At Mesosphere, he has worked on a variety of projects, including partition-aware Mesos frameworks and improving support for stateful Mesos frameworks. Prior to joining Mesosphere, he completed a PhD in Computer Science at UC Berkeley, worked briefly in quantitative finance, was a principal engineer at a stream processing startup, and was a committer and major developer of PostgreSQL.

Russell Spitzer: Russell got his Ph.D from UCSF in 2013 after performing a lot of comparisons of protein binding sites. Following that he joined DataStax to get more involved in the Big Data / Distributed Computing Scene. Currently he spends the majority of his time developing the integration of Cassandra with Hadoop, Spark, Solr and a bunch of open source technologies. He's also far too familiar with various cloud vendors.

Ewen Cheslack- Postava: Ewen Cheslack-Postava is a Kafka committer and engineer at Confluent building a stream data platform based on Apache Kafka to help organizations reliably and robustly capture and leverage all their real-time data. He received his PhD from Stanford University where he developed Sirikata, an open source system for massive virtual environments. His dissertation defined a novel type of spatial query giving significantly improved visual fidelity, and described a system for efficiently processing these queries at scale.

Corbin Pacheco: Corbin Pacheco is a sales engineer at Mesosphere working with the largest DC/OS customers in Silicon Valley and the West Coast. He is currently working with Enterprises who have chosen to adopt the SMACK stack pattern for the development of their modern applications. Prior to joining Mesosphere, he worked at BMC software with outsourcers and system integrators to develop and implement best practices for Cloud and Data Center Automation across the globe, after having worked for over a decade in the data center in financial services.

Brad Murdoch: Brad brings more than 25 years of enterprise experience to Lightbend. Brad has filled a number of executive roles in business development, marketing, strategy and operations for early and growth stage companies in the professional open source, cybersecurity and enterprise mobility markets, including JBoss (acquired by Red Hat), Prevoty, Framehawk (acquired by Citrix), and Nukona (acquired by Symantec). Brad holds an honors degree in Computer Science from the University of Glasgow.
