Selenium Israel Meetup #14 with Dan Cuellar

Feb 18, 2016 · Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel

Hello everyone! Our next Meetup will take place on February 18th at the ironSource offices in 28 Lilienblum St Tel Aviv.

I'm excited to have Dan Cuellar - the creator of Appium speaking at our next event!

Dan Cuellar is the creator of the open source mobile automation framework Appium, and Head of Testing at Foodit.  Previously, he headed the test organizations Shazam Entertainment in London and Zoosk in San Francisco, and worked as a software engineer on Microsoft Outlook for Mac, and other products in the Microsoft Office suite. He is an advocate of open source technologies and technical software testing. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, with a minor in Music Technology, from the world renowned School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

Dan's talk will cover the following topics:

Lessons Learned Creating an Open Source Project - 0 to 100,000 Users

When I demo’ed what is now called Appium at the Selenium Conference in 2012 I had no idea what I was doing starting an open source project. I knew little about how open source operated and worked behind the scenes. Thanks to the help of a great community and the advice of some seasoned open source contributors, Appium has quickly become the most popular open source mobile automation framework. Along the way, mistakes were made, lessons were learned, and occasionally we got things right. I’ve put together a collection of stories and lessons that I’d like to share with others to help everyone manage, contribute to, and consume open source software projects more effectively.

10 Things You Didn’t Know About Appium + What’s New in Appium 1.5

I’ll share 10 secrets about Appium that you may have never heard before. I’ll also talk about what’s new in Appium 1.5 and what’s on the road map for the rest of the year. Finally, I’ll do my best to answer any questions from the audience.

Agenda:

18:00 – 18:30 Meet & Greet

18:30 – 19:15 Lessons Learned Creating an Open Source Project - 0 to 100,000 Users

19:15 – 19:30 Break

19:30 – 20:15 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Appium + What’s New in Appium 1.5

21:00 – Lights out!

Looking forward to see you all!

Adam
