Scalable Data Science using Microsoft’s Data & AI Toolsets

Shash Hegde will provide a brief overview of Microsoft’s investments, point of view, and portfolio around Machine Learning and AI.

Sanjeev Devarapalli will then demo how to create and run machine learning models using Microsoft ML Server, Azure Batch, Azure Databricks, and Azure Data Science VM using both R and Python

The first portion of this talk is for a general audience interested in learning about Microsoft’s offerings.

The second portion is geared towards Data Science professionals who want to see it in action.

Shash Hegde is a Director in the Data & AI team with a focus on data strategy and solution architecture. Prior to joining Microsoft, he worked in the BI/DW consulting space as a solution architect. Shash has presented at CIO summits, served as a judge for City of Charlotte BI Olympiads, been invited to present at conferences such as Decision Camp in Silicon Valley and roadshow events at Microsoft. He has a Bachelors in Computer Science from Mangalore University and a Masters in Information Technology from University of North Carolina. You can catch him @DataCzar

Sanjeev is a Data Scientist and Cloud Solutions Architect at Microsoft helping customers implement intelligent apps and drive insights from data. Prior to joining Microsoft, Sanjeev was a data-science lead at AT&T driving customer care insights and has over 15 years of software development and enterprise architecture experience. He has a Masters Degree from Virginia Tech specializing in Software Engineering and a Capstone Degree in Biostatistics and Medical Informatics from UW-Madison.
