Apr 22, 2018 · Singapore, Singapore

• What we'll do
This talk presents an overview of robots and robotics. We will travel through time to take a look at the 60-year history of robot development and address the birth and trends of robotics, a multi-disciplinary field of study, from a purely industrial automation application. This talk will also attempt to showcase a range of applications of artificial intelligence, particularly machine learning, in robotics and the difference in approach, the challenges faced.

Yan Wu received his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from the University of Cambridge in 2007, and PhD Degree in Electrical Engineering from Imperial College London in 2013. In Aug 2012, he worked at the Institute of Child Health, University College London as an Honorary Research Associate and NHS Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children as a Research Fellow. Since Dec 2013, he has been with A*STAR Institute for Infocomm Research, Singapore, where he serves as a research Scientist and principle investigator on robot dexterity and learning.
