React Meetup #9

Jun 7, 2016 · Hamburg, Germany

Welcome to the ninth Hamburg React Meetup.  Everyone is welcome to join us, whatever your experience with React.

We've got two great talks lined up this month:

* Building a Synthesizer with React - Gregor Adams

Will include sound synthesis (via Tone.js) and synthesizer UI-components like a step sequencer and potentiometers. Everything is wrapped in React components.

* React vs. Functional Programming: A different take on the API - Mike Sperber

React is great.  Well almost, if you're a functional programmer: While React gives us efficient rendering without having to worry about what changed, functional programmers recognize in React the germ of a framework that supports their programming style.  However, a few things stand in the way: the messy way React deals with binding, and the imperative API for state changes in particular.  The talk is about Reacl, a thin wrapper around React that provides a functional API in ClojureScript.  I'll give an intro to ClojureScript in the talk.

We look forward to seeing you there!
