QA at Warp Speed

Nov 6, 2013 · Brooklyn, United States of America

Quality assurance in an agency setting moves at warp speed. QA leads and analysts often find themselves working on two or three projects at the same time, debugging one right after the other. Managing scope, agility, and resourcing are daily challenges, as well as the constant fear of freezing VMware during cross-browser testing.

QA consultant Karen Johnson moderates a panel of QA directors from R/GA, McGarryBowen and Huge. Join us to learn the ins and outs of QA in an agency setting versus in-house, the evolution of test approaches, automation versus manual testing, and what the future holds for agency QA.

Richard Kriheli
Director of QA, R/GA

Richard is a technologist / satirist / skeptic hybrid species (genus: teknosatirskeptis). He comes from a diverse background in quality assurance and art direction spanning seventeen years. Currently a Director of QA at R/GA, Richard leads quality efforts on Nike’s digital brand properties. He enjoys chrysanthemum tea, 70% cacao and avoids celery at all costs. Richard resides in New York’s Upper West Side with his wife, son and gadgets named after notable writers.

Dave Geller
Director of QA, mcgarrybowen

Dave has been honing his digital skills since the early days of the Internet explosion.  After learning the in’s and out’s of Quality Assurance testing in the retail and financial sectors, he turned his attention towards more consumer-facing experiences.  He’s made stops at Digitas, working with major clients such as AMEX, Converse and Kraft, as well as at News Corp, working on The Daily’s digital publishing suite of apps. These associations have provided Dave with the experience to take his skills beyond testing and help him guide his teams to deliver the best products possible.  Dave is currently the Director of Quality Assurance at mcgarrybowen, where he and his team work on all of the digital assignments for Verizon Wireless, JPM Chase, Marriott, United Airlines and more. When Dave isn't breaking what the developers are making, he alternates between hopping in his Jeep for a day on the slopes and being a dad/semi-pro jungle gym.
