Project UX 2.0

Aug 8, 2017 · London, United Kingdom

Dear members

After the success of the first project in which ten professionals embarked on a journey of exploration and discovery while developing a unique cocktail mixing app, I am pleased to announce the start of a new UX design adventure.

The idea is to learn how to develop a new product from scratch using the UX design framework.

This project will enable you to learn and apply essential UX design methods and techniques used in various digital projects while gaining a better understanding of how to create meaningful user experiences.

At the start of the project, you will be given a brief with the option to design a website or mobile application, which you will be developing further in each module. You will be working in small teams allowing you to collaborate and gain experience, reflecting a real world scenario.

Each topic will be covered over a period of four weeks, giving you plenty of time to apply what you have learned and to expand on your skills. By the end of each module, you will have acquired UX design specific competencies that you can use in projects and present in your portfolio.

Be prepared for an exciting series of intensive hands-on modules in which I will take you through the UX design process covering:

• UX Research 1 - Gathering User Data

• UX Research 2 - Analysing User Data

• Personas (1x Saturday workshop)

• Ideation

• Scenarios & Storyboards

• Flow Diagrams

• Wireframes

• Low-fidelity digital prototyping and testing

• High-fidelity prototyping and testing

• Portfolio preparation

Module 1

UX Research 1 - Gathering user data

Understanding user needs, limitations wants, and desires is the foundation of UX Design. Research enables us to gather this invaluable data, providing us with insights and information on what matters to users when it comes to products and services. Without this knowledge, we are unable to develop products that fully meet the expectations of our audience.

In this module you will learn how to:

• Apply professional research methods

• Plan, manage and conduct research sessions

• Collect user data using qualitative and quantitative methods

• Prepare and present research

Module details at a glance

• The research module starts on August 8th and will run for four weeks, 2 hours per session, once a week in the evening 18:30-20:30

• Max. 10 students per module

• £149 per person per module

• Certificate of completion

• Online learning material

• One extra feedback session online (optional)

• Please bring your laptops

Is this course right for me?
If you are looking to change career, have been struggling with applying UX design methods, or just wish to expand your portfolio, then this course is definitely for you. The work created and experience gained, will allow you to demonstrate your understanding of UX design to potential clients and future employers.

I have no prior experience in UX design and have not attended any of the previous courses, will I benefit from joining the project?
Yes, this course is ideal if you have no or little understanding of the UX design process. At the start of the course, you will be getting an overview of the different UX design framework and how each method is used to create the best possible user experience.

How is this course different from the free meetup?
The meetups are designed to introduce you to a new UX design topic every month, providing you with a platform to learn and network. Exercises are brief and simple, allowing you to apply what you have learned during the presentation.

The UX Playground courses and workshops take this idea much further. You will be given tasks that are more complex and based on a particular project. The aim is to learn new skills by developing a new or improving an existing product, similar to how you would do in a real project.

What format does this course have?
The course is a combination of presentations, practical exercises, homework, tasks and group assignments. The course is intensive, and we are aiming to complete all tasks during the course. However, additional time after lessons might be needed to complete exercises and homework. Be prepared to put max 2-4h per week aside in addition to the lessons.

Let’s get together learn, collaborate and design products that people will be love.

I look forward to another UX Playground event and hope you will be joining us.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
