CLASS AGENDA

DAY 1

Advanced Objective-C

This module will start by looking at the more dynamic features of Objective-C that can help you build more dynamic and extensible iOS applications.
Storyboarding

Storyboarding is the newest way to build interfaces in iOS using Xcode.  This module will show you a number of advanced tips and tricks to help you build a more sophisticated UI.
Advanced CollectionViews

This module will go deeper into CollectionViews and how they can be used to create great looking universal apps.
Animation

Adding animation can be an important part of building a sophisticated iOS application.  This module will cover the basics and more advanced features of animation on iOS.

DAY 2
Advanced Debugging

Using the debugging tools in Xcode properly will help you be a better iOS dev and help improve the quality of your code.
Notifications

This module will cover both local and remote notification and how to use them to make your app more attractive and useful.
Customizing UIViews

Sometime you do need to go down a layer in iOS and write code that draws directly to the screen.  This module will go into the basics of writing a custom UIView.
Optimization

Instruments is a incredibly powerful tool to be able to find the last few performance problems in your app.  This module will show you how to use Instruments to your advantage.

Jon Flanders is a iOS Engineer at Axis Studios in Hollywood, CA. He is also writes and instructs courses for Pluralsight (http://www.pluralsight.com/) and is the owner of Flanders Software Consulting Inc. Jon is the author of RESTful.NET from O'Reilly, as well as Essential ASP for Addison-Wesley, and was a co-author of Mastering Visual Studio.NET for O'Reilly. Prerequisites

Students wishing to take this course should have a basic understanding of iOS development under their belts. To get the most from this class, you need access to a Mac using Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8) or Mavericks (OS X 10.9). Core iOS 7 requires Xcode 5 running either of these.

Computers are not provided.
