On Wednesday 25th of May, we would like to invite you to our next community meetup of the PHP User Group Munich. Please sign up to give us a hint how many PHP developers are coming!
The event will take place at CHECK24 Vergleichsportal GmbH, Erika-Mann-Str. 62-66, 80636 München.
At 6.30pm we will start by enjoying some networking with soft drinks, beer and pizza. Later we will continue with the talks.
This time we will also have a raffle: you can win a 1-year individual subscription to any single JetBrains Toolbox product of your choice!
The program for the meetup:
Set up an Enterprise Class Load Balancer with free Software (Sebastian Feldmann, Check24)
#Continuous Delivery / DevOps #Scaling & Performance
Availability is the key for all online businesses. If your website or service is not accessible for your customers it’s never good for business. This talk will show you how to set up a high performance and high availability load balancer using free software like nginx and HAProxy. It includes performance tuning your connection with SPDY and HTTP2, optimizing your SSL setup, caching for even faster content delivery, some failover strategies for your web servers as well as your load balancer and finally how to monitor it all, so you won’t miss anything going sideways.
Sebastian Feldmann lives in Munich and Cologne, leading a team of web developers at CHECK24. In his 15 years of PHP experience, he specialized in Object Oriented Design, Application Design and DevOPS. He is passionate about maintainable code, automation and teaching others how to improve their coding skills. Sebastian is an active open source contributor and author of phpbu, an open source PHP backup framework. You can follow him on Twitter at @movetodevnull.
A session about sessions and non-sessions (Sven Rautenberg, Vodafone Kabel Deutschland GmbH)
Let's look at ways how to make PHP applications remember what your user did on the last web page.
The first half will be about the classic PHP sessions, what the SessionHandlerInterface is about and why all of it's methods are important for a successful alternative implementation.
The second half will explore alternatives to the problems created using PHP sessions, including alternatives to sessions: Splitting the problem on the server or moving the data to the client.
Sven has over 15 years of experience in PHP, and for the last 5 years, living in Munich, is developing HTTP-APIs at Vodafone Kabel Deutschland. He is automating things in the build toolchain, maintaining the deployment tool, has fun with dependency-injecting objects into objects and loves the Slim 3 micro framework. You can follow him on Twitter at @SvenRtbg.
