Talk Title: How To Think About Joining The Cloud
Abstract: The public cloud is the best way forward for almost anyone who needs to do a nontrivial amount of computing. There are many different on-ramps to the cloud, which makes sense, because everyone is starting from a different point and has different needs. In this talk I'll spend some time talking specifically about specifics such as compute modes, database engines, and messaging patterns in the cloud, but the unifying theme is what you need to think about when you’re approaching the cloud, and how to think about it.
Presenter: Tim Bray, Sr. Principal Engineer, Amazon Web Services
Tim is a Canadian software developer and entrepreneur and one of the co-authors of the original XML specification. He has worked for Amazon Web Services since December 2014 and previously for Google, Sun Microsystems, the Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) and several start-ups.
There is a parkade on Yates St. that is a short walk away. Parking is FREE after 6pm.
