November Tech Talks

Nov 23, 2017 · Toronto, Canada

Hello Alchemists!

Please join us for our November edition of the Elixir Tech Talks.

This month we have:

Jason Goodwin (@jasongoodwin) with his talk "Functional Programming Paradigms In Elixir". This talk will introduce actor model and functional programming paradigms in Elixir from the perspectives of a seasoned Scala/Akka developer. The talk will offer perspectives and approaches for common scenarios such as null and error handling and concurrent and asynchronous response patterns using the actor model.

Ben Morgan (@BenMorganIO) will present "Discovering Dialyzer", Dialyzer is an amazing tool which allows developers to "optimistically" identify errors and incongruities in ones code. In this talk, you'll be introduced to some broken Elixir, how Dialyzer is able to pinpoint the issues, and then print them as errors on your screen. You'll also learn about how to read these errors and how to use type specs to get the most out of this tool.

The great folks at Kinetic Commerce will be hosting us. They will also be providing some pizza and pops for our group. Doors open at 6pm, talks will start around 7pm.
