Stacks, Components & Modules @ Coolblue

Nov 19, 2015 · Rotterdam, Netherlands

On November 19th, NLHTML5 will be at the Coolblue headquarters in Rotterdam!

We have three amazing speakers lined up for you! Coolblue's Paul van Dam, Ziggo's Robert Haritonov and a HitFox's Lewis Cowper!

You will also get a chance to take a look inside Coolblue's office as we will do a tour after the talks.

The JavaScript app development stack - Paul van Dam

The amount of options you have these days if you want to build a new JavaScript application are mind blowing. Especially if you have a free choice of options and no legacy to take into account. In this talk I will take you through our process of determining a development stack for a new JavaScript app, what choices we made and why, and what pitfalls to look out for.

Paul van Dam is a senior front-end developer at Coolblue. Studied Interaction Design at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. Gathered over 15 years of professional experience and proud to have participated in two DIA-winning projects. He truly enjoys the mix of technology and interaction that is front-end. Max Verstappen enthusiast.

Building React Components Library - Robert Haritonov

React provides a great foundation for building and implementing reusable components, that whole team (and community) could greatly benefit from. But to make the code actually reusable, it should be properly presented and documented.
Robert will guide you through the key patterns of building React components library with proper navigation, rendered examples sandbox and API description.

Passionate developer, evangelist, automation geek and open source enthusiast. Apart from broad front-end development knowledge, Robert's current main expertise is development automation, style guides and component libraries. Maintains ( and the huge ecosystem around living style guides tooling.

Modularise All the Things! (Now Including CSS) - Lewis Cowper

Recently, there's been a lot of talk about modularising UIs into components. Lewis will explore some strategies that allow you to do this, and introduce the css-modules project and how you can get started with it in your own projects. This talk will get you interested in modular UIs, and introduce you to some tools and methods that you can use to build your web applications in a loosely coupled way.

Lewis is a Junior Front End Dev at HitFox group. He loves offline capable web apps, analysing processes, and modular design.
