Dan Gilbert, Director of Data, News UK
Dan is Director of Data Technology at News UK, publisher of The Times and Sunday Times and The Sun. In his role, Dan looks after data science and engineering and the creation of data products and APIs that enable personalisation, data and machine learning to be embedded throughout user journeys and the content lifecycle. Previously, Dan set up data science teams at several publishers and digital businesses and consulted on analytics in the public sector and payments industry.
Dan will talk about News UK's journey to using data and machine learning to power disparate parts of a news business from the newsroom through to product, marketing and advertising.
Matt Taylor, Digital Development Editor, The Times
Has been working in The Times and Sunday Times newsrooms for three years on their digital strategy teams since graduating from Queen Mary, University of London with a BA in Linguistics in 2013.
Alongside working on widely successful news products, Matt has also worked to transform newsroom culture and workflow through the use of new tools and techniques. He is now Digital Development Editor, running a small team managing editorial development strategy and product across the titles.
Matt will discuss how a Times project to provide editorial data to the newsroom is putting ease of use first, and exposing the right data and the right time to help users make better editorial decisions.

Mads promoted some of the world’s largest brands as part of the goviral video platform, which then sold to AOL, where he became Planning Director.
In 2014, Mads co-founded Bibblio, an ad-free content recommendation toolkit that helps publishers improve visitor engagement by auto-suggesting related content from across the provider’s catalog on each of their pages.

Tom is an experienced industry speaker and content contributor on branded content and native, programmatic technology and advertising, mobile, data, innovation and entrepreneurship. He's currently heads up commercial at Oriel, offering anti-adblocking tools for publishers, and is director of several emerging technology companies.
