Gamification is the use of game design techniques and mechanics to enhance non-games; in order to make technology more fun, encouraging users to engage in desired behaviors and by showing a path to mastery and autonomy.  Jeff Allen, one of the original creators of XBox Live , and J Schwan, President of Solstice Consulting, will lead a discussion on how gamification techniques can help increase adoption, usage and stickiness of your mobile applications.

Jeff has over 20 years experience designing, coding, and commercializing interactive digital entertainment software and services. A product guy with an entrepreneurial spirit, Jeff has held senior design and development roles at companies such as Microsoft, WMS Games, and Midway Games; and brought to market numerous award-winning platforms including Xbox Live, Zune, WMS Gaming’s Player’s Life Web Services, and Midway Games’ WaveNet.  Today he runs a consulting house providing strategy, design, and development solutions focused on customer engagement, loyalty, and interactive digital entertainment.

Passions: run-on sentences, connected entertainment, game mechanics, interactive media, and hyper-relevant location-based experiences at the intersection of mobile & social to bring people together to compete, collaborate, share their experiences, and tell their stories.

 J is the Founder and President of Solstice Consulting as well as Solstice's product development studio, Bottega Sol. J has over 15 years of experience architecting and managing mission-critical initiatives for world-renowned enterprises. Under his leadership, Solstice has lead the industry in helping enterprises understand, embrace and adapt to emerging technologies.
