Join us for drinks and networking at the second Manchester Internet of Things Meetup. There will also be the opportunity to hear from some of the people working on creative and innovative IoT projects in the North West. Speaking on the night will be:
Things Manchester : The Things Network is a community of people who are building a crowdsourced Internet of Things LoraWAN network for the benefit of anyone who wants to explore and create products and services for themselves, their communities and business. The talk will be an introduction to the technology and the community model behind the Things Network - and if that sparks your interest, you can find out more and start getting hands-on with the LoraWAN technology at one of the regular Things Manchester drop-in events.
Jasmine Cox : Jasmine is a Designer with BBC R&D's user experience group in the North. With a background in Product Design from the University of Dundee, Jasmine has expertise across electronic, industrial, and mechanical design. She crafts playful devices and builds control systems to connect them to the Internet. BBC R&D are exploring how networked objects can provide intuitive ways in which people can discover, access, control and share media content. For instance, using a single-purpose, single touch device like a standalone button on a key-fob to save or share a moment in broadcast. Jasmine will be talking us through some of the more interesting ways in which the Internet of Things and digital media can be combined.
In addition to the main speakers, there will also be a ‘community announcements’ slot at the end for anyone who wants to let attendees know about upcoming IoT events or initiatives. You can let us know on the night if you have something you want to announce.
