WTF Wearables?! Lisa Kindred

Everyone loves to use the phrase wearable tech–& to talk about how many billions there are to be made–but if wearables are so great, why do they all suck? Author & fashion tech strategist Liza Kindred takes a look at the missteps so far & proposes a new way that finally goes beyond strapping a screen on your wrist–or throwing a sensor in a bracelet.

CONVERSION FOR INFORMATION SITES Kjell-Morten Bratsberg Thorsen

When a customer buys something online, it is counted as a success in some reporting system, and the web team gets a bonus. When great content on a site answer a user’s question, the site owners will never know. Does it have to be this way?

Kjell-Morten shares some insights on how to measure whether a site is doing its job, even when success cannot be identified as a user arriving at a certain receipt page in a conversion funnel.

STORY FIRST: A NARRATIVE APPROACH TO BUILDING SUCCESSFUL PRODUCTS AND SERVICES Donna Lichaw
While many of us seek out the newest and shiniest tools, methods, and processes to build more successful products and services, we often overlook one of the oldest, leanest, most effective tools out there: the structurally sound story. Whether you realize it or not in the moment, you experience everything as if it was a story. The better the story, the more likely you are to want to use a product, continue to use it, pay to use it, and recommend it to others.
In this talk, you will see how taking a story first approach to design and development will help you build more successful products and services that excite your customers, draw them in, incite them to action, and keep them engaged over time.

CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE AND "THE NETLIFE WAY" Jostein Magnussen

USING THE CORE MODEL TO MAKE STUFF THAT WORKS  Martha Lyngnes

The core model is both a mindset and a tool. The core model helps you focus first on what’s most important to both your business and your users, saving the nitty-gritty of categories, hierarchy, and naming in your information architecture for later. Give your users a clear path that’s aligned with your business objectives and create appropriate content for solving whatever task the user comes to your site to do. Martha is a designer at Netlife Research and will explain The core model and how it works. You can read about The core model at A List Apart
