As our last event for the year, November holds a bitter-sweet quality. In light of saying goodbye to 2017, we shift our focus away from ourselves and onto others.
We will be learning about and workshopping Inclusive Design with the internationally-acclaimed speaker, Apala Lahiri. Apala is the President of HFI Middle East, Asia, Africa and Australia and a world-renowned expert on cross-cultural design and contextual innovation, and an award-winning designer. Her talk will look at how to make design inclusive:
“In this age of increasing recognition of UX design as a differentiator, why do I still not feel like it’s time to celebrate? Perhaps it’s because I still see a world divided into design-haves and design-havenots. Design seems to only follow the money. How then will those who cannot afford to buy ‘designed experiences’ be included in the circle of design?"
Inclusive design is such an important concept in the South African context. So this is going to be a truly inspiring and relevant event, where we hope to learn and implement those learnings into real-world value.
We give a special thanks to:
Apala Lahiri for her time
HFI for the catering and overall sponsorship of this event
