Wojtek Erbetowski

about him: Wojtek is Head of Engineering at Polidea - mobile/hardware software-house. That’s an unusual environment for a backend dev - here it’s the mobile app, that is the center of universe. Backend is the one that has to fit best, so that the app remains simple and robust. Thanks to that he has gathered many interesting tips and tricks, that he will gladly share.

Wojtek invented MobileWarsaw, GitKata and Mobile Central Europe. He’s also co-leader of Warsaw JUG and Warsjawa conference. Worked on Apphance Flow - an OS build tool for mobile and co-created a library for unit testing Android apps - RoboSpock.

title: Designing API for mobile apps

presentation details: To provide a fair user experience, mobile app’s performance must be well tuned. Loads of work are invested into designing screens to provide fast feedback to end user and make 3rd party services communication as invisible as possible. There is unfortunately a wall, that mobile devs cannot go through - making faster external calls, especially in difficult environment like poor connection quality. But we - backend developers - can minimize that pain, but only as a result of tight cooperation.Presentation contains a ton of knowledge about designing and developing mobile APIs and another ton of experience from the trenches.

Marius Rackwitz

about him: Marius is an iOS Developer based in Berlin. As a Core Member of the CocoaPods team, he helped implement Swift & framework support to CocoaPods. When he’s not busy working on development tools for iOS & Mac, he works on Realm, a new database for iOS & Android.

Marius lives in Berlin.

title: "Swift?! - Alternatives to Optionals"

presentation details:  I will explain the challenges and possibilities for designing more attractive APIs with Swift to escape building deep-nested branch hierarchies to unwrap optionals. The talk should uncover some alternatives to NSErrorPointers and function callbacks, not only for synchronous, but especially for expensive asynchronous operations.

 Tomasz Grynfelder

about him: Tomasz Grynfelder, Senior Software Engineer at Polidea, mobile technologies freak highly focused on iOS development, simultaneously finishing MSc in Computer Science at Warsaw University of Technology. Great fan of cycling and sailing.

title: "BLE by example"

presentation details: After dozens of theoretical talks about Bluetooth Smart, have a short summary followed by examples from the real projects for both iBeacons and communication with peripherals over Bluetooth Low Energy. Starting from findings after using iBeacons in the real-world application with a great number of people surrounding devices, up to getting live data from Texas Instruments' SensorTag in few, rather unusual cases. Both based on a still fresh experiences.
