Lisbon |> Elixir 8th Edition

Feb 26, 2019 · Lisboa, Portugal

Hey there fellow Sippers! Here we are with another edition of the meetup, this time hosted by Streetbees at IDEIAHub.

In this edition we'll be doing something a little different: we'll have one talk followed by a quiz! Know the difference between handle_call and handle_cast? Drop by and test your Elixir knowledge. As for the talk, here's the abstract:

• Talk #1: Exploring Elixir's wonderful Metaprogramming
Speaker: André Albuquerque – Software Engineer at Onfido

Explore the Interceptor library underpinnings, and in the process deepen your Elixir metaprogramming knowledge. Interceptor is a library that lets you intercept function calls, and works in compile-time by injecting calls to your callback functions.

Here's the schedule for the event:

• 6:30PM - 7:00PM – Registration
• 7:00PM - 7:45PM – Talk #1
• 7:45PM - 8:00PM – Coffee Break
• 8:00PM - 8:30PM – Quiz

Take the opportunity to mingle, network and share experiences!

Last but not least, please keep submitting your talks for future editions of this meetup :) (either send us a message on Meetup or come talk to us on Gitter https://gitter.im/lisbon-elixir/community)

Let's get stuff rolling with Elixir! Elixir is a functional programming language built atop of Erlang Virtual Machine, which was developed and battle tested by Ericsson. With Elixir you'll have the means to create distributed, fault-tolerant, hot code swappable applications along with metaprogramming goodies. All in all, software development depends on tools, and Elixir is a tool that we think should not go unnoticed.
