Title 1: Data Science @ WU
Description: WU's executive academy has designed a cutting edge program on data science. In just a few months, you will get to know the tools, techniques, and fundamental concepts that you need to know in order to make an impact as a data scientist.

Mag.a Katarina Lucic is responsible for Learning Design & Program Management at the WU Executive Academy, the Business school of WU. She develops tailor-made education programs with companies and is the Program Manager of the short program Data Science.
Axel Polleres heads the Institute of Information Business of Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Wien) which he joined in Sept 2013 as a full professor in the area of "Data and Knowledge Engineering". Since January 2017 he is also a member of the Complexity Science Hub Vienna Faculty. He obtained his Ph.D. and habilitation from Vienna University of Technology and worked at University of Innsbruck, Austria, Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Madrid, Spain, the Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI) at the National University of Ireland, Galway, and for Siemens AG's Corporate Technology Research division before joining WU Wien. His research focuses on various aspects of data management, particularly on intelligent data processing, AI, Semantic Web technologies, Web services, knowledge management, (Linked) Open Data, and related applications. He has worked in several European and national research projects in these areas with key industry players around the globe. Axel has published more than 100 articles in journals, books, and conference and workshop contributions and co-organised several international conferences.. Moreover, he actively contributed to international standardisation efforts within the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) where he co-chaired the W3C SPARQL working group.
Title 2: Soft skills and Team Building in Data Science
Description: An introductory conversation about soft-skills and team building in Data Science. Expect the approach to be unusual, e.g. using technical code in a non-technical presentation.

Powered by: Maria Ines Plaza (Mari) MBA, production engineer and project management specialist with 15 years of professional experience in a variety of areas, started 2 years ago to develop her technical skills complementing her business acumen to pursue a career in Data Science. If you need to use a single word to summarise her experience, this would be Diversity. She has had the opportunity to be in different industries like IT, innovation and manufacturing and work at multinational companies like Microsoft, medium sized business and a start-up focused on Social Commerce in Latin America. Additionally, she has been involved in several projects with different cultures in remote work environments.
