July - Fuzzy BELK

Jul 27, 2016 · Sydney, Australia

G'Day Folks,

You can't keep a good dog down, so we're back with two very different presenters this month.

The amazing team at Optiver will be hosting us again, so make sure you get in early to get a seat, a feed and a visit to the offices of a company that has been consistently voted in Best Places to Work in AU!

First up is an international guest, Declan Trezise. Declan is the Senior International Customer Engineer for Basis Technology. He has many years of experience working with challenging text and search problems; converting unstructured text into actionable insight.

This talk will be about Elasticsearch and fuzzy name matching. Whether you’re tackling log analysis, e-commerce, watch list screening or other applications, names are often the key, and we will hear how Basis Tech handles this analysis process with their plugins. If you are interested in effectively working with multiple languages, this talk is definitely for you!

Next is local lad, Jason Stangroome from section.io, who will talk about why they chose the Elastic product suite for their heavily-containerised platform and how they're using it, and some other tools, to provide visibility for internal operations and also for their users.

Jason (@jstangroome) is a regular speaker at various meetups and has spent the last two years helping teams optimise their website performance while also building a new kind of Content Delivery Network. Before that Jason was a consultant focused on the processes and tools to help adopt Continuous Delivery practices in enterprise environments.

Please jump in and RSVP ASAP, seats are limited and we need to close responses 24 hours before the event to facilitate logistics. One final reminder; If you RSVP yes but can't make it, please be a nice Meetup Member and update your RSVP to allow others to get along.

We look forward to seeing you all in a few weeks!
