Architecture and demo of a Big Data solution using Azure Batch, Azure Data Lake, Azure HDInsight (Hadoop), SQL Azure and Power BI.
Abstract: Microsoft’s Azure Cloud Data Platform has a growing and maturing set of services to build enterprise grade Big Data solutions. Roy’s presentation will focus on demoing a subset of these Azure services for a solution he has built to obtain a job posting data from a job web site which is then processed through Azure Batch, Azure Data Lake, Azure HDInsight (Hadoop), SQL Azure and visualized in Power BI reports. Roy will share the knowledge and experiences he acquired while building the custom solution and hopes to encourage insightful discussions with the audience.

Abstract: The code-data duality lies at the core of automated programming. Often underused due to its confusing nature, it allows compilers to compile, interpreters to interpret and as Alex will show, programs to program. Alex will be demonstrating the key concepts behind manipulating source code using other source code, enabling the possibility to build code generators that can help us solve certain real world software development problems where all other conventional programming techniques fail.
Alex Ianta is co-organizer at TCP1P and a 3rd year computer science student at Dalhousie University currently on co-op at RBC. He is lead programmer at Servi Smart, building the backend for a smart market of microservices. With a keen interest in everything from artificial intelligence and cybernetics to philosophy, politics, and human psychology, he is passionate about demonstrating the real world applicability of the strangest most esoteric concepts in computing that he stumbles upon. @aianta
