This meetup is a soft reboot of ApolloMeteorNYC and will take place online. Tonight, we'll talk a bit about the meetup, the state of Meteor, and what we have in mind for 2022.

6:15pm - Meteor Community Survey 2021 - Jan Dvorak

For the past two years, Jan has conducted a survey to measure the pulse of the Meteor community. Tonight Jan will share the pre-publication results of the survey and his perspective on what these data suggest.

Jan Dvorak is an open source contributor, community engineer, aspiring writer & fan of Japan. He is the creator of LiteraryUniverse.com and leads the MeteorJS global community. 6:35pm - Meteor Today – Alim S. Gafar

Meteor is not just surviving - it's thriving. We'll share key features of the the most recent 2.x releases and discuss the support that Meteor Software has introduced over the pandemic, including free project hosting, one line deployments, unified installer, Meteor Cloud, and Meteor University. Find out why you should be building web, mobile, desktop, and API applications with MeteorJS.

Alim S. Gafar is a data scientist, tech startup veteran, open source dabbler, developer advocate, and long-time ApolloMeteorNYC organizer. Outside of tech, he has been a community leader in the NYC area, focusing on K-12 education policy, land use issue, and maritime activities. He served as the 45th Commodore of the DYS and is a member of the board of the JSALIS, a member organization of US Sailing.
