When you are spending $500+ per minute there’s a reason to try doing things differently, or so you would think. In this session, Mark Setrem will highlight some of the challenges of the Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Industry describing some real examples of where Internet-of-things technology is making a difference to the work processes involved in exploring-for and producing oil and gas. Through giving an overview of the work processes the key business challenges and benefits of IoT technologies will be discussed as well as some key learning from real-life deployments. Before looking where current IoT trends may make a difference in a business context in the near future.
Mark Setrem has worked in the Oil and Gas Industry for over 20 years and is an Experienced Oil & Gas Technology Manager. After studying geology at Imperial College London he joined an Oil and Gas Exploration and Production company. Mark’s started carrier as a geologist, before moving to managing the IT and data services teams providing the computing and data services to the company's technical staff. This led to an interest in how implementing technology and process change can improve the performance of teams. From this work a new team was setup to implement “Digital Oilfield Technologies” an industry trend that implemented IoT technologies to improve production, safety and reliability. Mark is a regular attendee and occasional host of the IoT London meet up.
