Interested in tech, but think it's not for you? Do you rarely see people who look like you coding? Afraid you missed your chance by not starting to code at 8?
Then Girl Develop It is for you. This MeetUp is one of our featured introductory classes that will show you that coding is for everyone. Whether you are ready to start your own projects, improve your career or just want to communicate better with the coders in your life, we will help you with the basics.
In this class we will walk through the fundamentals of web development in layperson's terms. While we won't be writing code, we'll take you through various components of the web and how they work together. Topics include but are not limited to:
• What is the World Wide Web?
• Where are web site files generally stored?
• What is the difference between a client and a server?
• Which programming languages are compiled on a server and which are parsed by the web browser?
• What do you need to know before building a website?
• What language should you use and what are the differences?
• What tools do you need to develop a web site?
• Who does what on a typical web development team?
• What is the Cloud?
This class is for beginners with little to no technical experience. Bring a notepad, tablet or laptop to take notes. Bring your questions!
We are excited to partner with BLANKSPACES, a co-working space with venues throughout Los Angeles. BLANKSPACES & GDI will be hosting classes at all of their venues, from Long Beach to Pasadena. Our goal is to grow our community and give everyone the chance to learn, no matter where they live.
BLANKSPACES is a coworking community of entrepreneurs and freelancers who share office space in order to collaborate. Office space and meeting rooms are available by the hour, week and month.
@BLANKSPACES, work FOR yourself, not BY yourself.
Behind the building is a city structure. First 60-90 min free. This is also a quick walk from the Expo Line Culver City station.
